JOB OVERVIEW
MLSE LaunchPad has been providing engaging, fun, and diverse Sport For Development program offerings for youth ages 6-29 in the GTA since March 2017. We facilitate proprietary sport programs and work with partner organizations to offer programming under four pillars: Healthy Body, Healthy Mind, Ready for School, and Ready for Work.

To fill the position of Sport Program Lead, MLSE LaunchPad is seeking someone who is knowledgeable in youth sport programs, small sided-games, and has experience working with diverse youth populations. Sport Program Leads are also experienced supervising a staff team, developing sport-specific program plans, and monitoring program outcomes. Sport Program Leads are FUN, adaptable, patient, kind, apt at evaluating staff and providing feedback, and able to relate well to youth of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. Sport Program Leads operate under the guidance of the Coordinators, Sport Programming.
Sport Program Leads are responsible for the design, implementation and evaluation of sport programming for participants that includes age-appropriate activities and all elements of MLSE LaunchPad core programming standards. These include physical literacy for our younger age group (6-10), life skill integration at the teenage level (11+) and progressive sport skill development.
RESPONSIBILITES
• Foster a culture of warmth, acceptance and fun at MLSE LaunchPad while ensuring that adherence to expectations, respect, and kindness are prioritized
• Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of a sport program schedule for program participants that includes age-appropriate activities and all elements of MLSE LaunchPad core programming standards
• Plan sport programs/events to meet the needs of partner organizations while aligning outcomes with LTAD strategies, fundamental movement skills, and MLSE LaunchPad core programming standards
• Deliver Sport For Development programming for children and youth through coaching, instruction and facilitation
• Instruct sport programs based on the specific sport and life skills objectives of MLSE LaunchPad programs
• Liaise with Sport Program Assistants to ensure a complete understanding of program plan delivery, objectives, expectations, and individual roles and responsibilities
• Ensure general program readiness including equipment lists, lesson plans, games, and activities for a range of abilities
• Communicate effectively with the Coordinators, Sport Programming regarding program needs and improvements
• Check that any equipment or facilities used in the delivery of the program plan are safe, in good working order, and free of risk
REQUIREMENTS
• High level of experience working with children and youth from diverse communities
• Desire to better our community and city by working with young people
• Ability to interact with diverse communities and community organizations with high energy
• Experience leading youth sport programming
• Background and knowledge leading children and youth sport, recreation, and/or physical activity programs
• HIGH FIVE training, NCCP Certifications, sport specific coaching certifications
• Standard First Aid and CPR certifications
• Must submit a clear Vulnerable Sector and background check
• Ability to work flexible hours including multiple evenings and weekends
