ABOUT THE POSITION
As a key member of Swimming Canada’s team, this manager position leads planning and operations for all Swimming Canada National Competitions.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly supervise key contractors and senior volunteers both in the lead up to and onsite at Swimming Canada (SC) National Competitions
  • Lead and manage the development of all relevant policies, procedures, documentation, etc (e.g. meet packages) for SC National Competitions.
  • SC lead with the local organizing committees for all SC National Competitions including the signing of agreement letters, payment of hosting fees and ensuring compliance.
  • Along with the Sr. Manager, Domestic operations, consult with the Officials, Competitions and Rules Committee to ensure meet information and competitions meet or exceed all Swimming Canada rules and requirements for a performance environment.
  • Identify, appoint and supervise the National Meet Directors for each Swimming Canada competition. (These National Meet Directors are ultimately in-charge of the technical operation of the competitions.)
  • Act as the lead Swimming Canada staff member on-site for all event operations on site.
  • Manage the preparation of accurate post-meet accounting and written reports; all government funding application, follow-up reports, financial statements and related documents required from external funding agencies.
  • Lead, in conjunction with the Director Marketing, on Sport Tourism, site selection, site surveys and facility relationships for all SC designated meets.
  • Lead, with support from the Marketing/Communications team, the creation of an exciting competition environment for participants and fulfill all partner obligations.
  • Manage the accurate and timely completion of all Sport Canada event hosting applications including post event reporting.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong ability to plan events, manage staff and delegate tasks
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and work comfortably in a deadline driven environment.
  • Technical swimming experience and knowledge is considered to be a strong asset.
  • Tact and interpersonal skills are required to deal with a wide range of people.
  • Experience or a proven aptitude in successfully working with volunteer boards and committees
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Candidate must be fluently bilingual.
  • Knowledge of SNC governance and structure and key stakeholders
  • Ability to move/lift equipment up to 20 kg on an occasional basis

WORKING CONDITIONS

This is a full-time Ottawa-based position with available benefits package as outlined in the Swimming Canada Human Resources policies. This position requires some irregular working hours. Salary will be based on qualifications and experience.
